You probably don’t understand because you’ve never been in love with someone who lives in a different country and you never had to fight to physically be with them.
We DID plan on being together for the the rest of our lives. Maybe we still do, you don’t have a god damn clue because you know nothing about our relationship. We got married for immigration purposes because we had to in order to be together to have a fighting chance of being with each other for the rest of our lives. We had already planned on marrying each other. The thing is, we are young and we don’t really have a lot of money. If it weren’t for immigration, we would have saved up and planned our wedding and invited the people we wanted and had everything how we wanted it. That’s why we’ve always stated that in the future when we could afford it, we would be having another wedding. We didn’t just get married so we could live in the same country and be friends. We obviously saw a future together and we did what we had to do in order to be together.
I guess I just don't understand why people get married for immigration purposes. I feel like it taints the word of marriage if you don't truly plan on being with each other forever
